Awake, work, sleep. Awake, work, sleep. My work dwells in the in-betweens of life. My plotted journey soars on the auto-pilot cycles of the day. My creative life-blood flows within the culmination of these moments, they are my only story. And between these planes, lies an airy solace, where, beauty, art, and I are sheltered within. The pains, sufferings, and pangs of successfully coming to the United States are often ignored, dismissed, endured, or healed by the greater rewards of artistic freedom, sense of artistic community and support. Today these are the truths that paint my canvases, shape my sculptures, and drape my garments. Goya, Van Gogh, Picasso, Kahlo, and Guevara they all spoke and revealed the in-between.
My technique is to capture the past, exploring the new with the old, and with found objects. Because, in this world there are endless materials to work with, my work deals with a lot of things that is around us, Nature, texture, happiness, pain, beauty, color, light and darkness. The purpose behind my work is to tell stories, that which are not seen, or overlooked in life.
I like the idea that, no matter how many times anyone has seen a piece; sculpture, garment etc, they may enjoy it as if; she or he is viewing it for the first time. Even regardless of how long a supporter has owned a piece if every time they look at it and are transported into those still and quiet in-between cycles of the day, they re-discover a moment of life beauty. When this occurs, I have done something worthwhile..
